A Saga of Love

I love love! It is really growing on me. Love deepens. Love gives. Love twists and turns and morphs, growing and expanding in depth, beauty and nature. Love can be thwarted. Love can shrivel and die. Love can be pressed into an unnatural mold. But when it is released to flourish then all who stand in its path are swept along by a current and overflowed by a saturation that goes beyond words. And so my words must stop to allow time and space for my love to grow even more. (translation: I am very happily married!)

Miller’s Nook

Marie and I are enjoying hosting people. Last month we have had a couple of BBQs and dinner parties. We love entertaining people, sharing our lives and learning about the lives of others. A fun night recently was a Russian Party we held here.

A Saga of Love

As I type this, we have been married three months and a day. I love telling people that marriage is awesome. It is! That doesn’t mean it is always plain sailing. It is easy to think that after you have done a few things for your spouse, you are sort of owed something in return. Three months in – I figure I will learn a lot about love for a long time to come.

Pennant Hills is beginning to feel like home. Marie and I have enjoyed hosting a few people for meals and would like to increase doing that so please feel free to contact us for an invite. I have been inviting myself to other people’s places for years, it is time to return the favor!

A Saga of Love

To be in love is truly a glorious feeling. To be loved and to love teaches you so much about yourself. As I am bound to Marie in marriage, I share in the joys of being accepted and also being changed as the intertwining process makes our two lives more and more one life.

I guess that is enough philosophizing by one married barely two months! We both love being married and were so blessed to celebrate with friends and family both in USA and Australia. Thanks to so many people who have helped to cherish love with us.

GLOBAL CONNECTIONS

UKRAINE

Today I was watching photos scroll through on my screen saver and felt a jab of homesickness for Rzhyshchiv. Marie and I hope to be able to visit Rzhyshchiv again towards the latter half of next year.

RUSSIA & UKRAINE IN OZ

It was good to catch up with my Russian and Ukrainian friends this last weekend. Since I gave up table tennis it has been hard to stay in touch.

SCHOOL DAYS

Tomorrow we are taking Year 2 for a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a visit to the Observatory. I have grown very fond of my class and will be very sad to hand them back to their teacher returning from maternity leave.

LONG WEEKEND

We are really looking forward to another weekend out of Sydney. This time Marie and I are heading south to Canberra. Chilly temps expected but also warm friendship and lots of chatting to catch up on a few years with friends.

WANNA BE A CHAMPION?

Become a champion hugger. A hug says:

• Hello

• Goodbye

• I'm sorry

• I forgive you

• I like you

• I care for you

• You're special to me

• I love you

- Not always, but often far better than any words can ever do.

SCHOOL DAYS

Our classroom is now the universe with a space shuttle off to one side – entry by secret code only. Yes we are studying space in Term 2. I need to start writing reports this week and would appreciate prayer prioritising all my commitments.

BEECROFT RUGBY

We lost 15-5 on the weekend. I played most of the game and am feeling my 40 years of age. I chatted with a guy from the opposition afterwards who was 42. He was Samoan and of course was Jerry Collin’s cousin! I thoroughly enjoy the interactions I have at rugby.

WHEN IS IT OK TO CHEAT?

The answer is “today”. I don’t have an inspirational or challenging thought ready for you today and I need to go to sleep. So I will repeat what I did once last year and copy and paste a few quotes from my website. A few people commented that they were blessed by them last time anyhow.

Sport is a preserver of health — Hippocrates

Joy is the experience of knowing that you are unconditionally loved. — Henri Nouwen

Forgiveness doesn't make the other person right, it makes you free. — Stormie Omartian

Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. — Leo Tolstoy

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

TO ALL MY FANS . . .

ON THE HOME FRONT

SCHOOL DAYS

After an idyllic week in NZ I am back into teaching 21 year two students. I love them. They are great to teach. Teaching is very tiring as well as time consuming outside of classroom hours. Please pray that I prepare well and that I prioritise my time and energy efficiently.

BEECROFT RUGBY

I want to play again this year. I wonder if my body will be up to it. I also want to entice as many friends as possible. If you play front row you even get a discount on your fees. But enjoying the camaraderie of rugby is one of the best ways one can enjoy a winter Saturday. Check it out now!
